Picture Day = Tall Shoes

Well today was picture day at school. We started out the morning with staff pictures…that’s always a joyful experience. I told my mom this morning that I was going to wear my tall shoes, because that will make the difference between sitting on the front row in the lame chairs, or standing in the row behind the chairs. Sure enough, I was right…go second row! And to all my other short friends, invest in a pair of tall shoes, it makes picture day so much better.

i.am.me

I saw this on my friend's blog (love ya Leslie!) and thought it was super cool...so I am going to steal it for my blog...woohoo!

i am: happy
i think: more than I should sometimes
i know: I am blessed
i have: a cute puppy
i dislike: driving in snow
i miss: my Grandma Moody
i fear: that I will screw up
i feel: content
i hear: the T.V.
i smell: my Scensty
i usually: enjoy what I'm doing
i search: for my phone, or keys, or whatever else I may have put somewhere weird
i wonder: why I get so upset sometimes, when I know from experience that things have a way of working out eventually and if nothing else, it always gets better
i regret: very little because I think that our past makes us who we are
i love: my family and friends more than anything!
i care: so much it hurts sometimes
i always: like to hear compliments
i worry: that people hate me
i am not: going to work tomorrow and am so excited about it!
i remember: most of my students names, and being as there are almost 1200 of them, I think that's pretty amazing
i believe: that God is truly in control
i dance: when I'm happy
i sing: as much as possible
i don’t always: feel that I am anything special
i argue: with my Dad, about everything
i don’t like: it when people are mad at me
i write: better than I used to!
i win: radio contests...well I did once, but it was the only time I tried!
i lose: when we play Stone Soup...I'm a crappy liar!
i wish: that I could apparate...that'd be awesome
i never: get up on time
i listen: to books on CD on my way to work sometimes
i don't understand: why it is sometimes so hard to assume that everyone is doing the best they know how and appreciate them for who they are and what they have to give
i can usually be found: if you call me and ask where I am
i am scared: of spiders
i need: people
i forget: what it feels like to have horrible stomach aches, yay!
i am happy: most of the time

Oops, I did it again...okay so it was purposeful

Okay, it's official. After all the brainwashing it is starting to set it. I am totally the favorite aunt! From birth I have told my nieces and nephews that I am their favorite, and as you can see by my two posts in one day about this, my time has been well spent!

Tonight I got a phone call, but I was at Kohl's so I didn't answer it. Well, it was my sister-in-law, but there was this message that went something like this... Talk to Juli. Tell her what you wanted to say. (Indistinct muttering for awhile) I love you, Juli (more indistinct muttering) then it ended. I learned from my sister-in-law that another one of my nieces wanted to call someone and after having been given several choices of who she could call, chose me...woohoo! I win!

I love you too kiddo!

"Juli, funny"

Well my brother called me last night to tell me that my niece kept saying "Juli, funny" last night. I'm not sure why I'm funny, but knowing that she was thinking about me literally made my week!! I love you Jo Jo Monster!

I see dead people

On Saturday, Cassie and I went to Body Worlds 3 in SLC. It was pretty cool! It was a little shorter than the Body: The Exhibition one I had seen in Las Vegas, but it had different stuff, so that was fun. This one had more cool poses, yay! Plus, it had a lamb and a camel, now that my friends is interesting! Anyway, after we got rained upon (it was raining so hard!) and saw the exhibit, we met Amber and AJ and went to Mimi's for dinner. It was so much fun. I have awesome friends!

I passed!

I got an email today from my university letting me know I made the September audit for the January cohort. For people who don't speak WGU...this means that I met the requirements to do my demonstration teaching in January (assuming I pass the December audit as well). This is especially important since my work has already approved and prepared for me to take a sabbatical leave in January. :) Point of the story? I'm still good to go!

Twenty-One

There was a teacher at my school (she retired a couple years ago) that referred to her birthday as the day she turns 21 each year. Well she was explaining to her 3rd grade class that it was her birthday and she was 21 (she was really in her 60's) and a student said, "no you're not!" To this she framed her face with her hands and replied "doesn't this look like the face of a 21 year old to you?" Without skipping a beat the 3rd grader responded "well yes, but that neck is way too old and wrinkly!"

The Last Straw

If I were a camel, I'd have a broken back.

I consider myself a pretty happy, well-adjusted person...most of the time. But every now and again (about every five or six weeks it seems) I fall apart for a day (or in this case, an evening), then I'm fine again. Well that day was today. It's kind of funny really...one minute I'm fine, just truckin' along. Then the next minute my whole world is caving in on me. I will spare you all the gory details, but these are all very upsetting things, and they all feel so big and real at the time. Then the next day everything is hunky dory (yeah, no idea how that is spelled) again. I don't get it. I'm sure that tomorrow everything will seem fine again...thankfully.

Fake it til' you make it!

I love this saying because there are a lot of things I wish to be that I am simply not. One of these is a "health nut". I seriously want to be one of those yoga doing, granola eating, triathlon training crazy people, but obviously I am not. Lucky for me, my friends are doing a "Biggest Loser" starting tomorrow which is technically today since it is now Monday. Well, I decided to jump on the bandwagon, so I am competing too. Although the prize (over $150) would be nice, I really just like the excuse to give another go at a "lifestyle change". So, as of now I am going to consider myself a health nut, hoping it catches on this time. I am going to attempt to "fake it 'til i make it" and I'm excited about it. I will keep everyone posted on my progress...should be interesting!
